A Multidisciplinary Scientific Research Institute

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is the biggest multitechnological contract research organisation in Northern Europe, with 2740 employees and an annual turnover of 232 Million €.

VTT is an impartial expert organisation and is part of the Finnish innovation system under the domain of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. Its objective is to develop new technologies and create new innovations and added value, thus increasing competitive advantage.

With its expertise, VTT provides research, development, testing and information services to public sector, companies and international organisations.

VTT plays an important role in the Finnish energy technology innovation system, with activities in renewable energy; particularly bioenergy, nuclear energy and the efficient use of energy in industry, buildings and transport.

VTT & the Bioenergy NoE

Bioenergy NoE is coordinated by Professor Kai Sipila of VTT. VTT is a European leader in Bioenergy R&D with over 120 experts and a turnover of 15 Million €. Most of the researchers at VTT who are working on Bioenergy NoE are located in the Energy and Pulp & Paper Cluster.
